Importance of Social Work in Islam

 By Farhan khan

Social work or humanitarian service and working for the poor and needy people of the society is a great virtue and Islam has taught it. This is the blessed Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and he has described the great reward and reward of serving the suffering humanity and helping the needy people. I even submit that after the revelation of the Prophet (PBUH), the first introduction of him came to us from the same reference that he (PBUH) used to serve the needy and deserving people.

And when the first revelation was revealed to the last Prophet of Allah, Muhammad (PBUH), he (PBUH) came to his house and said to his wife, Umm al-Mu'minin, Hazrat Khadija (RA): He consoled and said that by God, Allah will not make you sad. And the argument he gave for his claim was that, "You (PBUH) do mercy, help the needy, serve guests, lend a hand to people in their difficulties and bear the burden of the needy." It is as if Umm al-Mu'minin, while consoling the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), expressed the idea that Allah does not make them sad and troubled who are useful to others in the human society.

In this way, after the first revelation was revealed, the first introduction of the Holy Prophet in the collection of hadiths is as a social worker and there is no doubt that he was a great social worker and the service of suffering humanity. The first Sunnah of you is blessed.

Therefore, I request to the youth that it is also the mission of the Holy Prophet to guide the people, to bring them to the path of faith, to save them from disbelief and misguidance, and to make them good Muslims by encouraging them to do good deeds, and to serve the suffering humanity. Helping poor people, trying to solve people's difficulties and problems and being a support to helpless people is also a Sunnah of the Prophet. All these are works of social welfare and it is a matter of happiness for all of us to work in any sector of them.
